2010 Favourites Part 1 Lip Products

First of all, I am very sorry about my lack of reviews and blog post, the stupid Talk talk, yes, I am talking around the company who use X factor for advertising. I totally find the X factor, not the good one, but the reason to not to use this company ever, I really meant, EVER, again. As they overcharged me, the sales made false statements during sales and it’s already 1 month and a half since I have moved house and there’s still NO Internet!

Secondly, my computer has crashed previously; so all my photos were technically gone, unless I can find someone to fix my hard drive. I only able to fix my window and tried to install the software that I need. Therefore, I can only take new photos again and that’s come to 1 problem. I forgot the font that I used for my watermark. So a new font is introduced for the time being. If anyone can tell me which font I have used will me so great.

Anyway, since I can’t do any other review at the moment, I am going to sum up the stuff that I think are the best 5 for each category.

First start with Lip product - this is the easiest to start, as I only began to push myself to start using the ones that I bought, as I always forgot my dear lipsticks and glosses

Here’s the best 5:

Sleek Pout Polish – see previous post. This is the only lip product, other than NYX, that I own more than 2. I actually have 3 of them and the new Powder Pink, is so nice to go with my NYX Strawberry Milk. [If one day is sunny and I am not in the office, I am definitely going to take photos of that and write the review!] (£4.99 @ Superdrugs)

Models Own Lip Balm – similar to Sleek Pout Polish, I think it is thicker texture, and more pigmented, which I like, but no SPF, is the only downfall (£5 Models Own)

Hybrid 2 in 1 Colour & Shine Gloss – very golden and shimmery, which I like. Though the gloss is thick, it is not sticky at all, and quite long lasting. Bought it at a super cheap price for £3 @ justbeautydirect.com

Molton Brown Wonderlips – bought this as I got the £10 off voucher from last month? Or the month before Marie Claire magazine. Just have a browse the in the store and found this. Personally, I think this is the best that I have used, though Lancome and NYX are not bad too. (£13.50 @ Molton Brown)

Jemma Kidd Make Up School Lip Gloss – got it free from buying Bodyform products. This is super good as well. Light weighted, not sticky at all, yet looks so nice on the lip.

So have you used these before? What do you think of them?

Tomorrow will be eyeliner!

p.s. have you seen the Soap & Glory set that is currently on sale @ Boots?
For £25, it is absolutely a bargin!
p.s.s. the prices may not be correct as I wrote them down from my memory. Please always double check online or at your local stores.

NYX Round Lipsticks

These are the 10 that arrived at my place yesterday. They are arranged in the code on the label. Apparently, the bottom colour is that colour of the lipsticks. But I don' think they are matched at all, especially for Gem and Indian Pink. The colour for Indian Pink is more an orange base rather than just pink that shown at the bottom. The bottom colour understimate the redness of Gem, as it is much redder.

Anyway, as I only kept 5 of them, here's the swatches for them.

These lipsticks are highly pigment, as it is very easy for me to capture the colours and it was very difficult for me to remove the colours from my arm afterwards @.@ ( i actually have to use makeup remover twice to remove them all totally)

I heard that some bloggers claimed that the lipsticks they bought have horrible smells, but I didn't find any smell in this case, so I assume it is a personal opinion or new/old version or QC problem?? I am not quite sure which....

Conclusion:
For USD$3 + postage, I don't think I will even border as there's always other alternative outside like Natural Collection, Collection 2000, etc. But for USD$1.4 + postage, I think they are really good value, as they are highly pigment and a huge range of colours available.

Score
75/100

Eye Lip Face = e.l.f. II

Since I am quite interest in the prducts of e.l.f., I bought stuff when there's a special offer in the UK site. So, this  is it. For an order more than £25, a free Mini Makeup Collection (worth £15) is free!!

I still haven't able to find a chance to try them on. But yet, I did a swatch for this, kekeke, as I cannot resist looking at it.

Packaing and top view
I am actually suprise by the case and packaing, as from what I heard, e.l.f stuff are really kiddy like/ top like, which means the packaging quality won't be as good as other brand outside.

Closer view under flash
The problem of  living in England is that we lack of sunshine while my skin still turn darker and darker during the winter.@.@ As there's no sunshine, most of my photos aren't as good as other bloggers,sigh..., but for this lot, I actually have some luck when I did the swatches and god... how easier to do things under the sunlight, and less flashing/over explose those annyoing stuff.

Whole palette under the sun light.

Eyeshadows, blush & bronzer

Lipsticks

I haven't take photos for the eyeliner, as I haven't really try it. I did draw a line on the back of my hand before, its not too soft but i think it should be useable.

Also, the eyeshadows are quite pigmented, it wasn't too hard for me to make a decent patch for the photographs and took me some time to wipe them off with my Botanic wipes.

This also applied to the lipsticks, my arm actually got red because I was rubbing it so hard with the cleaning.

Furthermore, the only cons is the brushes as e.l.f's main brushes are quite soft and nice, so I am having a similar expectation. Yet, I am kind of disappointed.

Conclusion
At last, I will actually buy this palette if I am a beginner or need a whole set of new makeup, as I definitly will bring this for holiday so that I dont need to draw up a list of what I need to bring. ;-P

Score: 70/100 (mainly for the original price and the amount of product you get)

p.s. wahhhh... forgot to label the white corners and forgot to mention them too.
The left hand side one is a white cream eye shadow and the right hand side is the pale white/ colourless lip gloss

Last week shopping @ TK Max

I like to 'hunt' in TK Max, as I can always find some bargin in there. (even though I dont buy them every single time, as I am not afford to do so @.@)

This time, I decided to buy this box set, as I am keen to try out the product from Rimmel, as I like the concealer and eyebrow liner that I bought recently.

Ruby & Millies Lipsticks

Another shopping post....
Only have time to shop, but didn't have time to try out products...
L->R: Nude 810C & Orange 340P

I am not a lipstick person at all, so why i bought 2?

Only because they are on promotion. By using the Boots voucher and the extra voucher that can be printed off at the Boots Advantage Card kiosk, the price of the lipstick reduce to 50p, so only GBP1 in total!!!!!
So great!

Also, I didn't own a nude lipstick, so worth a go.

Compare with my Kose lipstick, the orange one looks very orange and the kose one looks rather pink base. The only reason that I bought a orange one is that my bf said orange suits me better compare with red or pink.. apparently... i kinda agree as for asian skin, we tends to have a yellower base, even for lips....
p.s. update on the 17/9
i used the nude one today, lovely. the colour is slightly darker and browner compare with my lip colour. but perfect, it blends in well and my make up looke quite natural and minimal... it wasnt really like nude as those adverts... but i like this kind of nude rather than pinkish nude like Nars Turkish Delight.
